( NOTE: Some sources claimed that Midland Broadcasting Co. bought KLDS and changed the callsign to KMBC. Others claim that KLDS used the composite call KLDS-KMBC for a while before becoming KMBC. At least one listing shows both stations in operation, sharing a frequency, on June 30, 1928, each under separate ownership. The best interpretation of the available data is that KLDS and KMBC were separate stations, with a time-sharing agreement as was common in those days, on the 1110 kHz frequency, but at some later date Midland bought out KLDS.)
